My parents are putting in an appearance at the food bank this week - as clients. Hey, it's better than putting groceries on credit card, right?
Anyway, I've always felt uneasy about the food hampers they give away; I get the feeling that all these donated 'non-perishables' include loads of Mac & Cheese and other "fake food" that does nothing but turn to sludge in one's stomach. After all, we have some serious health issues here that we're hoping will actually improve - not worsen due to poor nutrition.
So a friend suggested that we pick up the hamper, wait until the shift change, then "re-donate" everything unhealthy. Oy!
